Have you yet experienced your first baby scan? The first time you see your baby, it is less of the size of a baby and more of the size of a peanut. The first time you hear the heartbeat, it’s an experience that can’t be expressed through words. But if you haven’t had your first baby scan yet, you should know the difference between 2D, 3D, and 4D baby scan. This way when you go to a 4D baby scan clinic for the first time, you would know the difference and have the best experience. First, let us understand in brief what these three types of scans are. 2D baby scan This is the oldest way of ultrasound. 2D or two-dimensional ultrasound gives you outlines and flat looking images. It can also be used to see the internal organs of the baby. It can be used to detect heart defects, kidneys problems, and other potential internal issues. 3D baby scan 3D or three-dimensional ultrasound though popular is not counted as standard prenatal tests. The picture produced is three-dimensional and more pronounced. It can be used to detect more small issues that can’t be seen through 2D scans like a cleft lip. 4D baby scan By adding the element of time, you get a more realistic look. The image is continuously updated, which makes it a moving image, like watching a movie. They are mostly in the form of a video that you can avail easily once you visit a 4D baby scan clinic. It is very clear that out of each of these scans people might mostly prefer a 4D baby scan. 2D scans show a blurry and grey outline of the baby. So a lot of parents get disappointed with these scans. But if you are having your scan for the first time, it might be that you don’t get to see much in a 4D scan because your baby hasn’t developed at all. Through 3D and 4D scans, you can see if your baby is yawning, sucking thumb, or sticking their tongue out. But you will be able to enjoy seeing that only if you are a bit more along in your pregnancy and your child has developed a lot. The best time to see your child in a 4D or a 3D baby scan is after 28 weeks of your pregnancy. You can then see your developed baby move around and get a more realistic video of your future child. Granted that both 3D and 4D are more advanced and better scans nowadays, but that doesn’t mean 2D scans are not important. They all might be very different from each other, but they are all important in their own way. Keep in mind that all clinics don’t offer these advanced scans. So do your research well and see if your budget permits. If it does then go to a 4D baby scan clinic after 28 weeks of your pregnancy, and enjoy the experience.
